Police investigates Jäätteenmäki's actions in "Iraqgate"

2003-06-19 17:21

The police are investigating if the resigned Finnish Prime minister Anneli Jäätteenmäki committed instigation as she asked the former presidential aide Martti Manninen, fired earlier today, to hand over secret Iraq policy information, which lead to Jäätteenmäki's resignation yesterday.

If Jäätteenmäki is found guilty, she faces the same charges as Manninen. The police are investigating if Manninen's actions meet the criteria of breach of official secrecy.

Jäätteenmäki has denied asking for secret information.
