Jewish Settlers Attack Palestinian Farmers in Tubas

TUBAS, Palestine, June 1, 2003, (IPC)-- Armed Jewish settlers attacked Sunday afternoon Palestinian farmers and seized their crops in different villages near the northern West Bank town of Tubas, IPC correspondent said.

Jewish settlers, armed with automatic machineguns, assaulted several Palestinian peasants in the villages of Bardala and Inilbida, near Tubas, witnesses told IPC correspondent.

"The Jewish settlers threatened us to be shot or leave our crops. They stole large amounts of vegetables and fruit," Palestinian farmer said under the condition of anonymity.

In the meantime, Israeli occupation forces opened heavy machine gun fire at Palestinian houses in the city of Khan-Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian security sources said.

Israeli soldiers, stationed at watch towers around the illegitimate Jewish settlement of “Niveh Dkalim”, opened their heavy machine guns at the Palestinian houses in the Al-Namsawi neighborhood in Khan Younis.

Several apartments were lightly damaged, while no wounded persons were reported, security sources said.
